International Harvester CTS-11 Truck Engine Service Repair Workshop Manual PDF International Harvester was an American manufacturer of agricultural machinery, trucks, and construction equipment founded in 1902 through the merger of McCormick Harvesting Machine Company and Deering Harvester Company. Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, IH produced trucks under the International name from 1907 until the truck division was sold and became Navistar International in 1986. The CTS-11 was a medium-duty truck engine designed for International Harvester truck applications including S-series and Loadstar models. This diesel engine was part of IH efforts to power their commercial truck range with reliable, serviceable powerplants capable of handling heavy loads and demanding commercial duty cycles. The CTS series engines featured cast iron construction, overhead valve architecture, and indirect injection fuel systems typical of diesel engines of that era. VEHICLE/EQUIPMENT INTRODUCTION: International Harversers truck engine range was engineered to serve the commercial vehicle market where uptime, fuel economy, and rebuild ability were paramount. The CTS-11 engine featured a robust cast iron block and cylinder head designed for high compression ratios inherent to diesel operation. The indirect injection fuel system used pre-combustion chambers to achieve efficient combustion across a wide operating range. OHV pushrod valve train architecture kept servicing straightforward, with accessible valve adjustment and straightforward timing gear replacement. These engines were designed with the expectation of high-mileage service life and multiple rebuild cycles, a philosophy inherited from IH agricultural equipment heritage.
